Junior Church

Junior Church is for children from the age of 3 to the end of Primary School. Classes are organised by age and each class is taught by a team of at two or three teachers. There are currently around 100 children registered in Junior Church with an average attendance of 60-70 spread over the two services.

We follow a Bible teaching programme called 'The Gospel Project' which over three years emphasises the good news about Jesus throughout both the Old and New Testaments. Each week the children are given a take homesheet which can be used as a focus for further discussion as a follow up to the lesson. Apps for both iOS and Android devices are also available to reinforce the lessons throughout the week.

Classes take place during the second half of the two Sunday morning services and include activities, stories, songs, discussion, and crafts. Children are encouraged to develop friendships as they explore together how the Bible applies to their lives. Our greatest hope is that each of the children will come to experience a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and will grow in their faith in Him.

In addition to the regular teaching programme the children are encouraged to participate in a number of special family services throughout the year including Christmas, Easter and end of session celebrations. Christmas parties are also organised each year.

We want the children to know that they are special and valued as individuals. We try to do this in simple ways such as publicly recognising their birthdays each month and encouraging the wider congregation to get to know them, pray for them and encourage them.

While Junior Church is important, we also know that parents (and grandparents) have the greatest responsibility for the spiritual input to the lives of their children so we want to help resource and encourage you to teach them and inspire the next generation with love for God. Recommended resources are available to get you started or give you fresh ideas.

Your child's welfare is of critical importance to us and is of vital importance to you. All teachers undergo appropriate checks and receive regular child protection training to ensure our care for your child is of the highest standard.

Bible Class

Bible Class is for children in the first two years of Secondary School who meet during the second half of most Sunday morning services. The material currently used as the basis for lessons is produced by Children Desiring God. However, Bible Class does not run during the holidays and children are encouraged and taught to develop active listening skills when sitting through sermons.

There are currently 10-15 in the Bible Class with 4 leaders who operate on a rota basis. Each session generally starts with some informal chat followed by reading, discussion and being taught about a set passage from Scripture. The discussion and teaching material is set in such a way so as to be Biblical, relevant, challenging and engaging, with a strong focus on application.
